I am always grateful for books that the Lord brings to your path to challenge your heart and impact your thinking. Bloodlines by John Piper was certainly one of those books. It seems that American’s tend to either ignore the issue of racial tension, or try to solve it by some means apart from Christ. Piper challenges the reader that any remedy, apart from Christ is at it’s best temporarily effective. The plea of this book is to the Christian: ”to pursue Christ-exalting, gospel-driven racial and ethnic diversity and harmony—especially in the family of God, the church of Jesus Christ.” In the following documentary film, Piper gives a candid account of his history with racism and the transforming work of the Holy Spirit in his life. I hope that this video will encourage you to examine your heart and mind in relation to racism, and pick up the book Bloodlines for a deeper study.

Ephesians 2:12-16

Remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility.

Hallelujah!!
